No fewer than 15 persons have been reported killed by gunmen in Demsa and Numan Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.
The first attack was said to have been carried out on Wednesday in Bolon in Demsa LGA where four persons were reportedly killed and three others injured.
Another attack occurred on Thursday in Bolki and Bujum Numan LGA, two border communities between Adamawa and Taraba States.
Some of the attack victims told reporters on Thursday that the gunmen invaded their village, shooting sporadically and burnt houses in the process.
The village head of Bolon, Robinson Filgona, decried that scores of people were rendered homeless because their houses were burnt.
Narrating how it happened, he said, “When we heard gunshots, the youths came out with their bows and arrows to repel the attack.
“We had local weapons while our attackers had modern guns. When they started shooting, the whole village was thrown into confusion and panic.
“They continued shooting sporadically and then set our houses on fire. You have all seen the extent of the destruction. Our foodstuff got burnt which we cannot quantify because we had abundant food in every household.”
However, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Othman Abubakar, told Channels Television that the command was aware of the attacks but has yet to gather details.
