Youths Flare up as Trailer Crushes Poly Student To Death in Osun

Some irate youths flared up on Thursday, as a trailer crushed one man, identified as Segun Dada, a student of Federal Polytechnic Ede, to death in Owode, Ede, State of Osun.

The trailer, according to an eye witness, was coming from Gbongan Road, enroute Osogbo when the incident occurred at about 11am.
The witness said, the driver was driving on the diverted one lane road at Owode junction due to the ongoing repair of the road and the victim, who was not aware of the diversion was crossing the road when he was knocked down.
He said, Segun who was also said to be an apprentice, went to a nearby canteen to buy food and the incident occurred when he was returning to his shop.
Sensing that Segun had died immediately and the hit and run trailer driver did not wait, the angry youths at Owode chased the driver to Zone 11 Police Station along  Abere road where he ran for police cover.
The police subsequently dislodged the angry youths, who had insisted that the driver of the trailer should be released to them
This action of the police infuriated the youths, who reassembled at the scene of accident, blocked the high way and bonfire in protest against the police action.
Segun’s brother who spoke at the scene,  said that the deceased was a student  of Federal Polytechnic Ede and at the same time undergoing Surveying and Geometry from and individual in the area before his death.
