I’ll Obey Peoples Judgement – Famodun

By Solomon Odeniyi

Elder Peter Babalola, an aspirant of the All Progressive Congress for the September 22 gubernatorial election has made a strong call for the zoning of the party’s governorship ticket to come from the Osun-West Senatorial District.

The Ikire born politician advised aspirants from  other districts to call it quit and support aspirants from the West, warning that failure to do so would amount to a waste of their resources as well as time and would be surprised at how they would be floored during the July 7 primary election.

The APC aspirant  described the west agitation project as done deal, as a huge number of the people making up the delegates, including Local Government Chairmen, Councillors among others reaching a concensus that the west senatorial district should produce the next governor.

He said” When I wanted to contest the other time, I was told it was not yet time for my zone and God in his infinite mercy spared my life till today. Then they said it was the central and it came to be, after that it was the turn of the east and now it is the turn of the West”.

Dispelling the notion that there are no competent aspiransts from the district, Babalola stressed that all  aspirants from west contesting under the party are more qualified for the position than those from other districts combined, affirming that aspirants from west are more than capable to govern the state.

Babalola, who stated that the reason the party has witnessed such an unprecedented number of people showing interest was as a result of the giant strides by Aregbesola, saying only people like him with a military and civilian experience could carry on with the good work without a hitch.

He added that he had no manifesto other than the six integral action plan of the governor and would make sure it is achieved to the fullest.

Reacting, the state party chairman described himself as the chairman of all and would only obey the judgement of all by the virtue of the outcome of the primary.

He said: “ I am aware of the serious campaign for west. Others as well are craving for the seat. If I must be sincere, West have been our strong point reflecting on election results. But as the head if I am to keep enjoying the support of all, I must not be seen to be with one side than other.  Also I would not want to go against the party constitution by saying it should be zoned to a particular zone. I will leave it to your judgement, and I will obey it. So if it is your wish for the West to produce the next governor so be it. I will ensure that under my watch, a free and fair election would be conducted. “
