THE Coordinator, Peoples Welfare League (PWL), Mr. Biodun Agboola has challenged the Inisa-born Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun to tell the whole world the truth about his political criss-crossing, saying that people are tired of his innuendoes.
Speaking in Osogbo, Osun State capital last week, while addressing some Action Congress members, who were deliberating on the 17th anniversary of the state’s creation, Agboola disclosed that he knew more than the explanations offered by the member of the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BOT).
It would be recalled that Oyedokun was, penultimate year, frustrated out of the PDP by the then President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was desperate to control the lever of the party. The Inisa-born politician then quickly hibernated with some progressives and aggrieved conservatives, who formed the Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD).
Using the platform of launch some political salvos against the embattled Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State, whose committee recommended the dissolution of the then National Working Committee, where Oyedokun was the Deputy National Chairman ’South’, Oyedokun pointed out the areas of poor performance of the embattled governor at a well-attended press conference at Osogbo City Hall.
Agboola further challenged the controversial politician to explain the circumstances that changed his mind, when the then president promised to settle certain scores with him, if only he returned into the PDP fold. The PWL coordinator also wanted the septuagenarian politician to disclose how the embattled Oyinlola compromised him, despite his early resolve to maintain his integrity, by not returning to his proverbial vomit.
“I read it recently and I have listened to him on radio and television interviews also, where Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedoking was busy castigating the party he early wanted to lead, saying that it lacks internal democracy. Let him, tell us the decision that was made in his house in Inisa, Odo-Otin Local Government Council Area, that he was not a party to,” Agboola queried.
According to the PWL boss: “I was with him till the last day, he could not even summon a modicum of courage to tell his followers that he was moving back to where he rightly belonged. I knew how he was compromised and the carrots. So, let no one be deceived about it, ‘Baba’ Oyedokun has something more to say.”
Speaking on the 17th anniversary of the creation of Osun State, Agboola expressed his disgust about the slow pace of development in the state, saying that Osun is no match to the sister states that were created at the same time.
Citing Ekiti State, the PWL chief said that despite the fact that the state was created after Osun, the roads and some other sectors there are working, saying that he chose Ekiti, because she is being ruled by a PDP governor too.
It is appalling that this promising state, having grown moustache and beard could not be metamorphosed from the infancy to the state of early adolescence. It is a pity we could still find ourselves in this condition,” Agboola lamented.
He therefore, submitted that only a good leadership with mind of service could drive the state to its promising future.
