Woman Remanded In Prison For Allegedly Killing Friend

A 23-year-old woman, Jimoh Simiat has been remanded in Ilesa prison on Tuesday, 20th March 2018 by an Osogbo Magistrate Court over alleged killing of her friend, Esther Oga on the 10th February, 2018.

The suspect was alleged to have unlawfully fought Oga to death around Fountain University area, Osogbo.

Meanwhile, it was reported on the 10th February, 2018 that a dead body, who was recognized to be “Iya Friday” by a passerby  was found beside the road around Oke Osun, Osogbo.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Mustapha Tajudeen told the court that the accused person committed the offence contrary to Section 316 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

Simiat, while explaining what transpired between her and Oga said, she went to Oga’s house to ask her if truly she told her new boyfriend that she was a prostitute and eventually the issue resulted to a fight between them.

According to the daughter of the deceased, Elizabeth Jonathan, Simiat and her mother went out together around 7:30pm, on the 9th February, 2018, saying her mother did not return home until the bad news was broke to her that her mother was found dead by the roadside.

The plea of the accused person was not taken due to the magnitude of the offence allegedly committed.

The magistrate, Tunde Badmus said the court does not have jurisdiction to continue with the case, and said the accused person should be remanded in Ilesha prison custody, while the defendant should be arraign before High Court that has jurisdiction.

He then adjourned the case till 8th of May 2018.
