The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Osun State Branch, has refuted the insinuation that workers in the 30 local government councils in the state have colluded with the defeated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to destabilize the government of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
According to NULGE, there had not been any plan or romance with the PDP, either to victimize the caretaker chairmen of the 30 councils or to frustrate the current administration in the state.
The state chairman of the NULGE, Comrade Kayode Afolabi, maintained that Aregbesola’s developmental projects were the responsibilities of workers across all the local government councils in the state.
Afolabi stated this last Monday in an interview with OSUN DEFENDERin Osogbo, the state capital.
Promising that NULGE and its members would not do anything to slow down or frustrate the timely achievements of Aregbesola’s six-point integral action plans, Afolabi said workers in the state were firmly in support of the state government.
He said: “We wish to put the record straight that, there has never been any meeting between the members of our great union and leadership of the opposition, especially the PDP in Osun State.
“We wish to put it on records that the Osun State Project, under the leadership of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola is considered, perceived and admitted as our joint responsibility.
“We shall not do anything or engage in any act capable of slowing down, or render impossible, the timely achievements of Mr. Aregbesola’s six-point integral action plans, which we believe will lift Osun State and the people of the state to the next level of development.”
The NULGE boss also commended Aregbesola for the state government’s programmes of controlling flooding and loss of properties to natural disaster at various locations across the state.
He stated further that the introduction of a 90-day environmental sanitation emergency period aimed at ridding the state of filth, has really helped the state in combating flooding and keeping the state tidy.
