We‘ll Rectify Osun Residents’ Grudges – Akere

Osun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Sunday Akere has urged the people of the state to show understanding with the administration in the state to enjoy dividends of democracy.
He disclosed this at a thanksgiving programme held in in his honour at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Oke-Oja, Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Council Area of the state last Sunday.
According to the commissioner, the monumental decay the sacked Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration unleashed on the state’s economy cannot be corrected within a year, saying Mr. Rauf Aregbesola-led government is doing everything humanly possible to ensure that the suffering of the people is ameliorated.
He further stated that it is unfortunate for a government to claim to have used N400 million to pull down a structure that was supposed to be the state hotel, only to commence the building of another one, which had since become a white elephant project.
He also lamented the huge sums of money the ousted Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola-led government claimed to have invested in the state aerodrome in the seven years of the administration and the site still remains a hunting ground for local farmers.
Speaking on the recently submitted report of the Truth and Reconciliatory Committee (TRC), he disclosed that the state government would soon release a white paper on the report, adding that everyone that has a grudge would be pacified appropriately.
He stated that the committee has done justice to the petitions of individuals, maintaining that the government is working tirelessly to ensure that its white paper did justice to complaints of individuals in line with the recommendations of the committee.
Earlier in his sermon, Reverend T. Adebowale urged politicians to dedicate themselves to serving humanity, saying it is the only way to achieve divine happiness.
He then urged young and upcoming politicians to emulate the virtues of the likes of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikwe and Chief Bisi Akande, whose sole interest was serving the people, rather than harnessing public wealth for their personal use.
After the church service, the crowd moved to the community primary school, Igbajo, where Akere’s friends and associates gathered to rejoice with him for sparing his life and giving him the opportunity to serve the people.
Among those at the events included the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Najeem Salaam, Professor Siyan Oyeweso, Honourable Lasun Yusuf, Alhaji Fatai Oyedele Diekola, Alhaji Waheed Lawal Honourable Mudashir Toogun and the state Action Congress of Nigeria Treasurer, Mr. Kunle Odeyemi.
