UNIOSUN Student In Prison Over Alleged Armed Robbery

A Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State, presided over by Magistrate M A Awodele, has ordered that a 28-year old student of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, Ajiboye Ayodeji be remanded in prison custody over alleged armed robbery.

Prosecutor John Idoko briefed the court that the accused with others now at large, between November 3rd and 10th at Oke-Ayepe area in Osogbo, armed themselves with guns and robbed one Akinbami Julilat of three phones, recharge cards worth N30,000 and a Gucci bag containing some money making the sum of the things stolen N 208,000.

Idoko said the accused also robbed one Adeleke Kikelomo the sum of N550,000 with some properties as well as one Adeleke Shileola the sum of N250,000.

The Prosecutor added that while the accused with others at large posed themselves to be members of an unlawful society called Eiye secret cult, they also robbed one Bakare Oreoluwa the sum of N200,000.

Idoko explained that the offences contravened sections 64(a)(b), 403(1)(2)(a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, volume II,  Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

The plea of the accused were however not taken with Magistrate Awodele in his ruling, ordering that he should be remanded in Ilesa Prison Custody.

Magistrate Awodele thereafter adjourned the case till January 28, 2018 and asked that a duplication of the case file be brought before the court on November 24, 2017.
