The matriculation of fresh students into
Osun State University for the 2019/2020
academic session will be held online.
According to an Internal Memorandum signed by the Registrar of the University, Mr Gafar Shittu on Monday, the move was necessitated by government’s directive on the closure of schools as a result of the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.
The memo, which was shared to social media groups of students and staff, stated that the online matriculation for 100 level students is slated for Wednesday, 13th May, 2020.
The memo reads: “Notice is hereby given to all fresh students of Osun State University that there is need to officially admit fresh students into the university as a way of tradition.
“However, in view of the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, which would not allow such gathering at period like this, the university has resolved to conduct an online matriculation for the students.
“All fresh students are to pay N2500 each as matriculation fees, through electronic platform and present the print-out to their college secretaries/faculty officers for the collection of academic gowns at a later date, in order to take pictures.”
The students, according to the memo, are also expected to have their matriculation oath forms filled online and submitted online while hard/original copies would be submitted at the respective departments when they resume normal academic activities.
