Traditional Chief In Court For Malicious Damage

A 60 years old traditional chief has been brought before an Osogbo magistrate court over the alleged malicious damage of farm produce worth N5.3 million.

The charge sheet read in the court disclosed that the accused person committed the alleged offense sometime in May 2017 at Igbokiti area in Osogbo.

It disclosed that the accused person violently conspired to threaten the life of one Tajudeen Adelabu with the intent to commit felony contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the state criminal law 2003.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person damaged economic trees such as Thick trees, Cashew trees, and Honeybee, valued N5,300,000.00 properties of Tajudeen Adelabu and his family, an offense contrary to and punishable under section 451 of the criminal code law of Osun State Nigeria 2003.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the four count charges leveled against him.

Defence counsel, Mrs. O. Akintajuwa applied for the bail of the accused person on the most liberal term, assuring the court that he would not abuse bail if granted

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A. Oloyede admitted the accused person to bail in the sum of five million nairas with one surety.
She then adjourned the matter to December 7, 2017 for hearing.
