Contrary to the news circulating that students of the State of Osun Government schools are being sent home to collect their school fees, an online group in the State, Progressives E-group, has stated that no student was sent home because of school fees.

In a statement signed by its coordinator, Hon. Mustapha Mudasir, the group explained that the students were only sent home over non payment of maintenance fees which is N500 per term and N1,,500 per annum.

“We want to reiterate that no student was sent home because of school fees. In our days, we were sent home for PTA levy, harvest items(ikore).

“Students in public schools are being sent for reasons including torn uniforms and non payment of maintenance fees of N500 per term which is N1500 per annum.

“If any pupil tells you he or she is being sent home for school fees, ask for last term’s receipt.

“Civil servants pay tax, and many of them don’t have children in public schools. Plus let us encourage their parents to pay tax of N1500 per annum.”the release added.

Still On Ebunoluwa Flyover Bridge; Saboteurs Should Stay Clear Of Osun Legacy Projects……By Progressives e-Group

STILL ON EBUNOLUWA FLYOVER BRIDGE; SABOTEURS SHOULD STAY CLEAR OF OSUN LEGACY PROJECTS……By Progressives e-Group

Not long ago, we released the first press statement on this subject matter to set the record straight on the lies of drowning opposition in the state. However, it has become imperative to release this second statement on the rumoured EbunOluwa flyover bridge collapse in order to sternly warn irrational saboteurs and agents of destruction to stay away from all the lofty projects of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to the good people of Osun.

As we reported in our first press statement, our investigative team during the road tour tried to find out from the engineer supervising Oba Adesoji Aderemi West Bypass road project what actually led to the blockage of one side of the road? Amazingly, he told us it was due to the handiwork of suspected saboteurs who attempted to brake part of the road and in the process, they succeeded in removing about two metres of expansion joints. Expectedly from a responsive government, this has been replaced immediately with a raw cement turned concrete to stabilize it. He said the concrete done on this portion of the road needed some few days to dry before the road is unblocked for motorists to pass.

The engineer in charge of the road also said similar act was carried out at the bridge located along Oke Ijetu axis of the same road. Some electrical materials and other items preventing staying of floods at the middle of the road were removed from that section of the road too by these enemies of progress. We see this act as desperation taken too far. The saboteurs should note that these projects are not personal properties of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola but collective heritage of Osun people who freely gave him their mandate.

We say for the umpteenth time that in a sane society, election year is a year of democratic consolidation not of infrastructural destruction. We enjoy both the security agencies and good people of Osun to start beaming their torchlights and searchlights on all these projects that spread across the nooks and crannies of the state in order to deter saboteurs from drawing us backward. Osun o ni baje ooo.

Group Felicitates With Christians On Christmas

By Nofisat Adeoye

An online group, Progressives e-Group, has wished all Christians in the State of Osun in particular and across the globe in general, compliments of the season.

The group also urged Christmas to imbibe the lessons of the period.

“December 25th every years commemorate the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ more than 2 millenniums ago and eventual prophet-hood which has become a global faith today. This period is not about festivity alone but rather, we should use it to reflect on our spiritual growth, perseverance in time of hardship, kindness to others and behavioural rebirth which this season symbolizes.

“Wishing all and sundry every essence, reward and prosperity of this celebration. Merry Christmas and Happy prosperous New Year of 2018 in advance.”

Group Mourns Death of Aregbesola’s Step Mum

By Nofisat Adeoye

Progressives e-Group, the number one online group in the State of Osun, has commiserated with the Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola over the death of his step mother, Alhaja Aishat Aregbesola.

“We receive with great shock and total disbelief, the unexpected death of step mother of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola – Alhaja Aishat Aregbesola and a woman of many phenomenal parts – Olori Opeyemi Omobolawa Fola (popularly called Olori Fola) in the early hours of Wednesday.

“The duo of Alhaja Aishat Aregbesola and Olori Fola lifestyle exemplified hard work, humility, selflessness, forthrightness and remarkable motherhood. We are bold to say without any equivocation that Alhaja Aishat Aregbesola is a complete step mother and perfect replacement as a mother to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola after the demise of Iya Olobi – Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola exactly 134 days ago.

“Also on the other hand, Olori Opeyemi Fola was a sound technocrat, cool headed administrator, altruistic fellow and firm believer in the government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as well as rapid growth and development of the State of Osun.

“We can sensed the level of agony and dejection the family of Aregbesola and Fola is experiencing now. However, we urge them to take solace in the fact that the duo was able to make indelible marks while on earth which will continue to be ascribed to them even after death.

“We pray to Almighty God to grant the family, friends, associates of the deceased and the good people of the State of Osun the fortitude to bear this irreparable double loss. Good Night Alhaja Aishat Aregbesola and Olori Opeyemi Fola.” The release signed by the group reads in part.
