Lady Cuts Off Neighbour’s Tongue In Lagos

A girl simply identified as Abiodun cut off a young man’s tongue but the reasons are still not clear. Narrating her son’s ordeal, Babangida’s mother, Hajiya Hassana Ali, said the suspect who is a relative of their neighbour’s wife, used to send Babangida on errands.

They started going to places together. When Hajiya Hassana noticed how Abiodun sometimes insulted him, she advised her son to stay away from her. And he did. After a certain period, they started getting close again but when Babangida noticed his mother’s displeasure, he kept his distance from Abiodun, again.

One night when Babangida went out to urinate, Abiodun pounced on him, choked him and cut off his tongue. Abiodun’s brother-in-law who heard the commotion when he also came out to relieve himself inquired whom she was with in the toilet, and she claimed she was alone. When he noticed blood from beneath the door, he broke down the toilet door. Upon seeing Babangida on the floor in a pool of blood, he went to his mother’s house and informed her.

The girl was almost lynched but Hajiya Hassana intervened and ensured she was taken to the police station.

The victim was rejected in several hospitals because his tongue was cut off from its root. Eventually, he was admitted at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

According to the doctors, there is hope that the tongue would grow a little since the patient was still young. This would enable him communicate to some extent.Hajiya Hassana however alleged that there was a plot at the police station to release Abiodun on bail and that the police had already been paid N30, 000 by the girl’s family and were waiting for a balance of N20, 000.

Yahaya Suleiman, the victim’s elder brother, also accused the police of changing Babangida’s statement. He explained that where the victim wrote that he went to pee and wrote ‘fiss’ instead of piss, the police changed it to ‘kiss’.

Suleiman said that before the incident, Biodun had been heard saying she would soon be driving a big car and would rent a nice house.

Babangida’s mother also said there was the possibility the girl wanted to use her son’s tongue for rituals.

Landlord, Children Kill Tenant Two Days To Wedding

Udochukwu Iwuoha who hailed from Agbaja in the Nwangele Local Government Area of the state, was to traditionally wed his fiancée on Friday before he was stabbed to death by his landlord and his five children in Owerri.

The tragedy was said to have occurred at No. 50 Onumonu Street in the state capital between 9pm and 10pm. After allegedly killing the artisan, the family of seven reportedly fled the area.

Neighbours were said to have vandalised their property.

A neighbour, who declined to be identified, told newsmen on Thursday that the family ensured that the victim died before they left him.

He said, “The incident happened on Wednesday. Udochukwu had told Paul Nwachukwu, who is a security guard at a branch of Guaranty Trust Bank, to stop rearing chickens behind his apartment.

“He told him that the smell and noises of the chickens were affecting his health; but the family took his observation as an insult.

“They beat him up before stabbing him. A neighbour, Godspower, who came to rescue Udochukwu (Iwuoha), was stabbed in one of his hands.

“The man, Paul Oparaugo and five of his six children – Chiemezie, Ndubuisi, Ugochinyere, Chidera and Deborah – committed the dastardly act. It was the last born, Michael, who is in primary school, that didn’t take part in the murder.”

An unidentified friend of the slain man said, “He had complained that his landlord was always on his case.” Another neighbour, who identified himself simply as John, said all the hospitals that the victim was taken to on Wednesday rejected him.

John said, “The hospitals demanded a police report because the injuries were too much. Before we could get the report, he died.

“We have reported the matter at the Owerri Urban Police Station. Policemen came here, and his corpse was deposited at a morgue.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, who confirmed the development to our correspondent, said he had ordered that the case be transferred to the homicide section of the Criminal and Investigation and Intelligence  Department of the state police command.

Ezike said, “It is a case of a family feud. Some youths in the area wanted to take the law into their own hands, but we were able to calm the situation.

Japan Widow Confesses To Killing Fourth Husband

Chisako Kakehi, 70, has become notorious over accusations she dispatched a number of elderly men she was involved with, drawing comparisons with the spider that kills its mate after copulation.

The one-time millionairess dubbed the “Black Widow” over the untimely deaths of lovers and a husband, admitted poisoning her last partner at her trial this week in a multiple murder case that has gripped Japan.

Kakehi is on trial for the murders of three men — including a husband — and the attempted murder of another, all to allow her to collect on insurance policies.

Prosecutors suspect she used cyanide to rid herself of her lovers, amassing a reported one billion yen ($8.8 million) in payouts over 10 years.

Her trial began in late June, but this week she stunned the court by telling judges it was true she had murdered her fourth husband in 2013.

“I was waiting for the right timing as I wanted to kill him out of deep hatred,” the Asahi newspaper quoted her as saying on Monday.

The Fuji television network quoted her as saying on Monday that the crime was just “an issue of money.”

But on Wednesday, Kakehi appeared to step back from those statements.

“I don’t remember (what I said)”, she testified, according to the Mainichi daily.

Kakehi’s lawyers have argued she is not guilty of murdering Isao Kakehi on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Kyoto District Court said last year that medical examinations found that Kakehi had early-stage dementia but was fit to stand trial.

If convicted or murder she could face the death penalty.
