With the Osun governorship election six months away, crisis is brewing in National Union Of Transport Workers (NURTW), Ife branch over the selection of who to support as the next Governor of the state.
Sources revealed to our correspondent that the union Chairman, Alh Isiaka Olatunbosun had advised the transport workers to work for Senator Iyiola Omisore.
Transport workers told our reporter that following the chairman’s advice, there have been series of fractions in the union that have started to root for several governorship candidates.
At recent meetings of the transport workers, it was learnt supporters of Omisore and some supporters of Chief Gbenga Owolabi, the Oluomo of Ife clashed, leading to scores injured.
It was also gathered that the support for Omisore was based on the criteria that he has money to oil the supporters from Ife/Ijesa district where he hails.

Fresh crisis is seemingly looming in Ile Ife and Lagos/Ibadan unit chapters of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Though the immediate cause of the clash could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report but reliable sources close to the union of commercial transporters in Ife said the groups involved in the mayhem are NURTW Ife intra-city unit and NURTW Lagos/Ibadan unit.
A resident of Mayfair area in Ife, who preferred anonymity, said that the mini-buses drivers operating within Ife metropolis and their colleagues plying Lagos/Ibadan have for long harboured enmity and ill feelings against each other.
According to him, the Ibadan/Lagos drivers were said to have been complaining about the manner the mini-buses drivers operate, which they said was having negative effects on their business.
He stated further that the two commercial unions had a meeting on Thursday to curtail the enmity between them as both parties showed no signs of sheating their sword.
