Suspect Remanded In Prison

A 20-year old man, Saheed Taye has been remanded in prison custody by an Osogbo Magistrate Court for being a member of secret cult. 

The police prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun alleged that the accused person committed the offence on the January 18, 2017 at about 11:0am at Obate area, Osogbo.

Taye was arraigned on a two count charge of which he pleaded not guilty.

The charge sheet revealed that Saheed Taye on the 18th day of January 2017 at about 11:00am at Obate area, Osogbo goes armed in the public without lawful occasion in such manner, to cause terror to any person and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 80 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

“That you Saheed Taye on the same time, date,  place and in the aforementioned Magisterial district did engage yourself in unlawful society as a member of secret cult Eiye confraternity and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 64(a) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002”.

The presiding magistrate granted the accused person bail of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum, but ordered that the accused person should be remanded in the prison custody pending the next adjourned date of the case.

The case was adjourned till 22nd of August, 2017 for further hearing.
