Senate To Conclude Screening For Ministerial Nominees On Tuesday, July 30

The Nigerian Senate will conclude with the screening of 43 ministerial nominees nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, July 30.

This was disclosed by the Senate president for the 9th Assembly, Ahmad Lawan, at the end of the plenary on Friday, July 26.

Lawan said the Senate will round up the screening process for the nominees on Tuesday, July 30, after 31 out of the 43 nominees have been screened.

According to Lawan, Gbemisola Saraki (Kwara), Goddy Jedy-Agba-Agba (Cross River), Sulaiman Adamu (Jigawa), Maryam Katagun (Bauchi), Clement Agba (Edo), Geoffrey Onyeama (Enugu), Muhammad Mahmoud (Kaduna), Babatunde Raji Fashola (Lagos) and Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) will be screened on Monday, July 30.

The Senate president also said that the last batch of the ministerial nominees including Sabo Nanono (Kano), Lai Mohammed (Kwara) and Saleh Mamman (Taraba) would be screened on Tuesday, July 30.

Speaking on the privileage given to some of the nominees, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe warned that what the Senate was doing was “confirmation hearing and not endorsement hearing”.
