Police Teargas Staff Protest As Suspended NHIS Boss Returns To Office

Information has it that some policemen whose numbers are believed to be more than 50 on Monday morning escorted the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Professor Usman Yusuf, into the premises headquarters.

This is just as Workers of the agency blocked the entrance of the office in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The protesters denied the embattled Executive secretary Usman Yusuf, who was suspended entrance into the office.

Heavy security personnel were also seen at the gate as workers struggled with security men while some staff loyal to the executive secretary succeeded in breaking the keys to the gate.

Reports however say the policemen fired tear gas to disperse members of staff, who had attempted to prevent Usman from gaining entry.

Yusuf, who was suspended by the governing council of the NHIS insisted that the board had no power to suspend him.
