A man that is contending with masquerade’s chase only needs to be dogged, as the man and the masquerade are prone to fatigue. this is a case of the embattled Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State, who has resorted to prosecute the next legal battle, as touching the petition of the Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate, Engineer Rauf Aregbesola that must be re-examined by the new election petitions tribunal, as ordered by the Court of Appeal, with councils’ funds, according to an investigation conducted by OSUN DEFENDER.

Finding revealed that a powerful cabinet member in the administration of Oyinlola had immediately after the Appeal Court judgment summoned a meeting of all sacked local government council chairmen in the state, where he informed them about the only condition that could sustain them (chairmen) in office till the Supreme Court rules over their dissolution.

OSUN DEFENDER learnt that the political functionary, who is currently manning a commission that has to do with the supervision of the councils in the state was said to have told the ousted council chiefs that he was addressing them with the consent of the governor, and that their (chairmen) response would show how the governor would treat their issue, as touching the verdict of the appeal court that sacked them.

With bated breathe, the Chairmen listened with rapt attention, when the governor’s point man told them that they should go back to their councils and source N6 million each to be paid in trench for the prosecution of their (chairmen) case at the Supreme Court and the retrial of the Aregbesola’s petition at the new election petitions tribunal.

OSUN DEFENDER learnt that two of the ex-chairmen, who initially kicked against the development, were made to see reason for total compliance by their helpless colleagues, arguing that they were still in office courtesy of the governor, and if the state helmsman elected to run around on their behalf, they have no reason not to source for the money.
it was learnt that the global economic crisis that has crippled the national finance has also forced the revenue allocations accrued to the councils to a downward scale.

investigation has revealed that some councils in Osun State are still breathing heavily under a serious debt, resulting from accumulative over drafts they had collected from banks to pay the political office holders, and other political contractors, masquerading as godfathers.

It was learnt that the moment the government man appealed to the sentiment of the ousted council chairmen that the governor was more than ready to give them lifeline, should the Supreme Court uphold the judgment of the Court in their case, they (ex-chairmen) all agreed to source for funds from all fronts.

Meanwhile, another grand of desperation of some politicians suspected to have allegiance with the PDP has been unearthed, as a former PDP chief, who had once criss-crossed some parties including the AC was quoted to have said that the governor was ready to unleash his influence as a former military warlord to instigate a coup –scare at the presidency, if the court choses to disgrace him out of power.

Gov. Oyinlola Olagunsoye of Osun StateThe conservative politician, who hails from Odo-Otin Local Government Council Area, the home council of the governor was said to have confided in some people, who came to find out about the outcome of the Appeal Court verdict that nothing should be ruled out including a court, because according to him, the general has started some moves that may save him.

Meanwhile, all efforts to reach the government man at the centre of the council funds proved abortive, as he refused to pick our calls; but one of the ousted council bosses affected has confirmed the story, but said that they were only asked to source for N2 million each and not N6 million
