Oyetola Sets Up Health Intervention Committee

The Executive Governor of the State of Osun, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has approved the immediate composition and inauguration of the Osun Special Health Intervention and Revitalization committee which attendant objectives is to revitalize the existing nine (9) and five (5) state and general hospitals respectively.

In a statement issued from the office of the Governor and obtained by newsmen on tuesday, the six man committee will also be saddled with the responsibilities of revitalizing three hundred and thirty two (332) focal Primary Healthcare Centres PHCs as this will ensure the state has one very functional PHC in every political ward of Osun; thereby giving access to all citizens whether you reside in the inner most part of our rural areas or semi urban centres and this will in turn reduce child and maternal mortality, communicable and non-communicable diseases which will give credence to a more healthier and productive citizenry.

Our correspondent gathered that the committee will superintend over the employment of medical personnels in all related field to drive the health initiative of the Oyetola administration, work out sustainable partnership and mutually beneficial collaboration between the state government owned medical facilities and the LAUTECH & OAU teaching hospitals. They will also facilitate the process of bulk purchase of drugs and medical consumables to drive the Health Insurance scheme and free health policy of the state government. And lastly, the inauguration of the State of Osun Health Trust Fund Board shall be the brainchild of the committee.

The chairman of the Special Health Intervention and Revitalization committee shall be the Governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola. Other members are Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, Bola Oyebamiji , Prof. Adeyinka Aderinto, Dr. Simeon Afolayan and Dr. Rafiu Isamotu.
