Oyetola, Owoeye Advocate Executive-Legislature Synergy To Achieve Good Governance

The Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has called on the state legislature to work assiduously in greater synergy with the executive to fast-track the achievement of good governance and service delivery to the people.

Oyetola stated this in Iloko Ijesa while declaring Open a 3-day Inaugural retreat of the 7th State of Osun House of Assembly on Tuesday tagged “Enhancing Service Delivery Through Effective Legislative Engagement.”

The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji said the smooth working relationship of both arms is expedient as it is the essence of the government.

Governor Oyetola also noted the support of the assembly in the last 5 months stressing the need for the parliamentarians to make people engagement the basis of their legislative activities.

The state helmsman maintained that of essence is the need for the lawmakers to design a road map that will guide its vision and programmes as welll as its performance charter for transparency and accountability.

In a welcome address, the Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye said the theme of the retreat aligns with the legislative agenda of the Osun 7th Assembly with quality legislation, effective oversight, public engagement, restoring public confidence and a e-parliament which will form the nexus of activities of the lawmakers in the next 3 and half years.

Owoeye who corroborated Governor Oyetola’s view pledged the readiness of the state assembly members to come up with laws and motions that will aid a well developed inclusive economy tailored through accountability and transparency.

He explained that while the Assembly will work hand in hand with the executive, it will not hesitate to perform its responsibility especially in the areas of oversight and adequate checks and balances.

The Speaker assured the people of the state of Osun that the 7th parliament would work to ensure that they enjoy the dividends of democracy promising that the resultant effects of the retreat will positively materialize in the states ecomomy in no distant time.
