Osun NSCDC Volunteers Laud Absorption Move

The pioneer volunteers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State command have commended the federal government giant strides on security matters across the country, especially in the area of vandalism.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Osun State Coordinator of the NSCDC volunteers, Mr. Sunday Oyedokun, and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the state capital.

Mr. Oyedokun commended Hon Goodluck Opiah Nanah representing Ohaji-Egbema-Oru West Federal Constituency submission on the floor of the House of Representatives on the 23rd of March, 2017 on the plight of NSCDC volunteers, who are yet to be absorbed into the civil defence corps.

He quoted Nanah as recalling that before the formal adoption of the NSCDC as a paramilitary organisation by the federal government, recruitment into the corp was voluntary by individuals that desire to serve their fatherland selflessly.

Mr. Oyedokun stressed that the NSCDC since inception has been complementing the efforts of the Nigerian Police force and other security agencies in the country to checkmate crimes and ensure safety of lives and property.

Oyedokun on behalf Osun NSCDC volunteers passionately appealed to the Commandant General of the Corps to personally intervene and ensure that all the foundational members yet to be captured, and who earnestly desire to either be enlisted to the corp or be duly remunerated as required are considered.

Mr. Oyedokun expressed joy over the commandant-general’s mindset and expressed optimism in his ability to better the lots of the old volunteers and put smiles on their faces.
