Osun LG Commissioner Tasks Youths to be Role Models

You Osun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke has charged youths to be role models and position themselves in a way that they would always be reckoned with.

He spoke while taking brief from members of the Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative (YEDI) on the proposed skill acquisition programme, where 5,000 youths are being targeted particularly on digital literacy.

Commending the initiative, which is being sponsored by the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) and National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP), the commissioner said the initiative was another evidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government at both the national and state levels are committed to making lives better for the people.

According to him, the programme would further create jobs for youths and make them self-reliant, hence guaranteeing security of lives and properties.

He tasked the beneficiaries that would be selected from all the Local Governments, Local Council Development Areas and Administrative Offices in the state to manage the opportunities very well with a view to getting the desired result.

Adeleke also urged the would-be facilitators to deliver their best during the training to ensure that the purpose of the idea is not defeated.

The commissioner then gave an assurance of the government to give every support the initiative deserves to ensure that the youths of Osun are more empowered.

Speaking earlier, the Convener of YEDI, Kehinde Ibitoye hailed the Osun government for embracing the programme aimed at engaging the youths to contribute meaningful to the development of the country and the state of Osun in particular.

He said, the programme is a way of giving back to the society, identify talents and create jobs for youths in the state.
