Osun Lawmaker Appoints 50 Aides, Doles Out Start-Up Capital To 65 SMSEs

The member representing Irewole Federal Constituency of the State of Osun at the National Assembly, Hon. Taiwo Oluga has appointed 50 constituents known as Oluga Corps under her Youth Empowerment Programme.

The scheme which was conceived to engage 150 youths in the constituency had it first batch deployed to schools, primary health centers and environmental section to cover area where there were shortage of workers for the development of the state.

Also, empowered 65 small scale businesses with a start up capital after they were trained on Vocational skills.

Speaking, the Chief Whip of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Tunde Olatunji lauded the federal lawmaker and described the programme as first of its kind in the state which empowered hundreds of youths and cut across the federal constituency.

Olatunji, who was chair the event presented appointment letters and handed over cash to first batch of the beneficiaries at Hon.Taiwo Oluga constituency office in Ayedaade local government on Monday, stresssd that the programme is commendable.

Olatunji said Hon Taiwo Oluga has done tremendously for engaging productive youths who expected to support both in education and Primary Health, describing the initiative as part of dividend of democracy which contribute to the country’s economy.

He charged the beneficiaries to see their appointments as opportunity and to prove that they have high responsibility to contribute to the society.

According to him, “those that have engaged in youth corps to support teaching activities both in middle and high school and as well as primary health and this is a carefully thought initiative that is commendable.

He further explained that the Oluga Corps will be paid stipends at end of every month which will be an indirect benefit to entire communities.

“This is a radical departure from peoples thought that politicians only empower citizens for thuggery to be used during election period.”

The chairman, Irewole local government, Prince Abass Aderemi applauded Hon. Taiwo Oluga saying the initiative is a unique one in empowering unemployed graduate in their professional field of study, adding that the opportunity would allow the youths to exhibit their capacity.

Speaking in the same vein, the chairmen of Irewole North East LCDA and Ayedaade South LCDA, Hon Opeyi Adeboye, Hon Quadri Abdulazeez enjoined the beneficiaries to justify the appointment by being a good ambassador of the Constituency adding that their performance would encourage the lawmaker to do more.

Dignitaries at the event include; the party chairmen of All Progressives Congress, APC from the three local governments, parliamentarians, market leaders and other political stakeholders in the federal constituency.
