OSUN State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Sunday Akere, has called on media practitioners in the state to partner with the state government in promoting the six-point cardinal programmes of the state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola. Akere said the performances of the state government in alleviating poverty in the state require the cooperation of all stakeholders, especially the media practitioners, in order to sustain the current tempo of development.
The commissioner stated this during his courtesy visit to Moremi Publishing House, the publisher of OSUNDEFENDER Newspaper, as part of the commissioner’s tour of media organisations in Osun State.
According to thecommissioner, the visit was to re-establish the already existing relationship in order to work together for the development of the state, as the new state Commissioner for Information and Strategy.
He lauded OSUNDEFENDER members of staff for their contributions during and after the struggle ofGovernor Rauf
Aregbesola to reclaim his mandate and his efforts to restore the state on the path of glory.
Akere said: “ I am proud to say it that I am a family member of Moremi Publishing House and wherever we are today, is by the special grace of God and the meaningful contributions of the people here. While the struggle lasted, they stood firmly on the side of truth and justice, which aided Mr. Governor’smandate restoration.
“Thank God that the mandate has been restored and history now beckons on us to make the change we promised, to increase food production, provide qualitative and affordable education, and give hope to the children of the common man. This g o v e r n m e n t transformational agenda requires the contribution of all to deliver.
“While soliciting for your support, I equally enjoin you to consolidate on your vibrant and objective journalism. OSUNDEFENDER must not lose its high level of patronage, continue to be focused and work hard to sustain the good integrity of the newspaper,” Akere submitted.

He said the governor was aware of most of the problems, saying they have discussed it extensively at the State Executive Council meeting. Welcoming the Commissioner and its entourage, the Managing E d i t o r of OSUNDEFENDER , Mr. Kola Olabisi, said the appointment of Akere was a well-deserved one, considering his past antecedents and brilliant performance, while handling the information unit of the Osun State Action Congress of Nigeria.
