Osun Govt Concession Flour Processing Plant To Oklan Best

The State Government of Osun has signed a concession agreement with an aggregator, Oklan Best to partner it in boosting the Osun Rural Enterprise and Agricultural Programme, O’REAP.

The signing of the agreement done by the state of Osun Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Adekunle Ige and Mrs Lanre Nwankwo on behalf of Oklan Best is expected to generate more revenue for the government.

The agreement provides a concession for Oklan Best to take over the operational functions of the Omoluabi Plantain and Root Crop Venture Factory and effectively manage its affairs on behalf of the state government.

According to the agreement, the concessionaire is to invest in the company, a total sum of N100 million naira with N30 million being the first tranche from the day of commencement of activities in the venture for the first three months.

The agreement which is expected to be in force for a period of 12 years will see to the creation of over 2,500 jobs for Osun Plantain Farmers as well as the people of the state in general.

As part of the signed agreement, Oklan Best will be giving out scholarships to four indigenes in Esa-Oke, Ago Owu, Mokore and Oriade local government area of the state.

According to the aggregator, it is done to give back to towns where the plantain (raw material) is sourced.

The agreement however stipulates that those to benefit from the scholarship are those who are studying agricultural science.

The commissioner reiterated the commitment of State Government of Osun in making Agriculture a profitable business for all and sundry, saying that the government is on the verge of attracting more investors to the state.

In her remarks, the Managing Director, Oklan Best, Mrs Lanre Nwankwo assured farmers in the state of mutually benefited arrangements by receiving their produce at profitable rates, adding the state will prevent spoilage and make the produce presentable at the global market.
