An aspirant of the All Progressives Congress for the Osun gubernatorial election, Ismail Saka-Layonu has declared that the debt owed by the state was invested on feasible projects which are of immense benefit to the populace.

Acoording to him, “the debt is money well borrowed and money well spent”.

The governorship aspirant who spoke while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after his declaration of intent to contest the party’s ticket, noted that had the debt been spent on white elephant projects, it could have portend doom for the state, and critics would have been right.

He added that “ when the roads constructed will begin to open up the economy, the development in agriculture begin to manifest, by the time you begin to see the children and the quality of education they get and other positive outcome, not only on the economy but our social wellbeing, then we will agree that the money was well spent“.

According to him, one of such ways to create wealth is by generating and increasing diverse streams of income to the state, noting that this would be achieved by ensuring that capital flight is avoided and the wealth created in the state is recycled, multiplied and equitably distributed within Osun as well as providing the necessary mechanism and incentives to further the agenda of local farmers and agro-entrepreneur.

The State Party chairman, Goyega Famodun, after receiving Saka-Layonu’s letter of intent said with the caliber of people contesting the governorship seat in the party, it is sure that anyone who wins the primary would have the job done.

He described Saka-Layonu as a selfless man, recalling how he has always made himself available to the party anytime they found themselves having legal issues charging no dime for his services.

He enjoined the people of the state to vote in the ruling party so the good work seen around would be improved on.
