In furtherance of his promise to deliver on his pact with the people of Osun Central, Senator Ajibola Basiru has facilitated training of cassava farmers to his Senatorial District.

The training programme facilitated by the Senator is at the instance of the National Centre for Genetic Resources and Biotechnology, Ibadan to train farmers across the senatorial district.

Speaking at the flag off of the training in Ora Igbomina, Ifedayo Local Government, Dr Ajibola Basiru disclosed that the effort is part of his pact with the people of Osun Central,to engage them in capacity building and training to enhance their economy and boost their financial status.

Monday’s flag off in Ora Igbomina saw 150 participants from Boluwaduro, Ila and Ifedayo come together to be taken through the training in cassava processes for three days.

The flag off of capacity training for 150 participants drawn from Osogbo,Olorunda,Orolu and Irepodun will follow today, Tuesday at Ifon while that Odo Otin Boripe and Ifelodun will come up on Wednesday at Agbeye all this week.
From today to Friday,450 farmers would have undergone training in cassava processing.

Stressing that he believed in the importance of human capital development, Dr Basiru said the training had come at a time the scourge of Covid-19 is ravaging the whole world. He said if the participants made use of the knowledge to be imparted in them,their farming businesses will be buoyed up.

Earlier the Director General of the National Centre for Genetic Resources and Biotechnology represented by Dr Tony Okere had thumped for Senator Ajibola Basiru for the initiative aimed at exposing farmers to rudiments of cassava processing in scientific ways.

Political leaders in Ifedayo, Ila and Boluwaduro including Prince Demola Adefila,Hon Funmilayo Olasehinde Mustspha,Hon Olumide and Kolawole Alabi gave kudos to Senator Ajibola Basiru for taking seriously the business of representing the people through c apacity building.

They charged the people of the Federal Constituency to reciprocate the gesture of Senator Basiru by rallying support for him all the time. The APC stalwarts reminded the people of the three local governments about what Dr Ajibola Basiru has done for them during August 2020 cooperative training, December 2020 empowerment programme,  construction of classrooms with facilities, provision of boreholes among others.

A cross section of the participants lauded the Senator for the gesture and promised to convert the training to economic gains for them and their communities.
