Osun Assembly Tasks MDAs On Revenue Generation

The State of Osun House Assembly has tasked the ministries, departments and agencies of government to take charge of their internal revenue generation serious.
The Speaker of the Parliament Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye made this known on Wednesday in his opening speech at the commencement of the year 2022 budget defence exercise at the House of Assembly Osogbo.
He noted that the budget defense exercise was in line with the constitution of the country.
He urged the people of the state to be part of the process to record success.
He advised the MDAs to improve on internal generated revenue (IGR) and block all the loopholes.
According to him, “Governor of the state Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has sent budget that will be benefit to all citizens “.
He also urged the finance and appropriation committee to be thorough in the defense exercise.
He advised the ministries, departments and agencies of government to cooperate with the committee to achieve the defined goal.
He charged the MDAs to be available during the defense exercise.
He said, “it is mandatory for MDAs to come and defend their budget estimate before the committee”.
He urged the Commissioner and Special Adviser in charged of ministries to make themselves available during the budget defense exercise.
He said, “No ministry, department and agencies of government without their head will be screen”.
In his remarks, the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation Hon. Taiwo Adebayo Olodo, charged MDAs to make themselves available during the budget screening exercise.
He said that the year 2022 budget defense exercise would be thoroughly done.
In their various contributions the lawmakers advised the ministry to work more on technical education for students to acquire knowledge and encourage leaning skills.
They also charged the ministry on quality assurance for various schools in the state.
Meanwhile, in their response, the Commissioner for Education Hon. Oladoyin Olayinka and Special Adviser on Education Mr. Jamiu Olawumi noted that education policy review has brought positive impact to education in the state.
They said the teacher recruitment would be done in November this year.
Among the ministries, departments and agencies of government appeared for defense exercise including Miinistry of education, Osun Mass Education Agency, Teacher Service Commission, Osun Library Board and Osun Examination Board respectively.
