Osun Assembly Deputy Chief Whip, Ogunkanmi Commends Governor Oyetola On Security

The Deputy Chief Whip, Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi has commended Governor Gboyega Oyetola and security operatives for their proactive measure towards the security of the state.

The lawmaker representing Ayedire local government who stated this in an interview with journalists in his office on Tuesday said the unrelenting effort of the security personnel led to success of the rescue of some abducted passengers in less than 24 hours.

It will be recalled that passengers of a commercial bus were abducted on Sunday by kidnappers at Ajeokun Junction, between Otan and Imesi Ile, Obokun Local Government Area of the state and later regained their freedom on Monday with the joint efforts of OPC, locyVigilante groups, Police and DSS.

Ogunkanmi added that security is everybody’s business urged residents of the state not to hesitate to expose the criminals in their localities for the safety of their lives and properties.

He maintained that the present administration in the state under the watch of Governor Gboyega Oyetola is doing its best to improve on security to make Osun an unfavorable climate for perpetrators of crime.

“We should not politicize security issues to create panic in the minds of the people. Though, there are security challenges but not to that extent to which it was being circulated. Security is a global issue, it is not peculiar to Osun.”

While reacting to ban on food importation, he lauded the federal government for taking the bold step to boost the economy of the nation through local production, adding that the policy would assist farmers to produce in large quantities thet would in turn create more jobs.

Ogunkanmi further said that the immediate past government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola laid a solid foundation on Agriculture which he believes the present administration is continuing for the betterment of the state.

“The federal government has took a great step to improve agriculture in Nigeria. Nigeria is blessed with many resources like cocoa, rubber, palm oil timber among others. If we can put these resources into use, the state of unemployment would reduce drastically.

He said the Osun House of Assembly would continue make laws that will have positive impact on the residents of the state, urging them to support the government at all times.
