Osun APC Felicitates With Chief Bisi Akande On 79th Birthday

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in the State of Osun, has congratulated Chief Adebisi Akande on the occasion of his 79th birthday.

In a statement signed by the party’s spokesman, Mr Kunle Oyatomi, APC said the party joined families and friends of the chieftain to honour and celebrate some of his grand achievements.

According to the release, “It was to the credit of Akande that APC was nursed until it was given birth to in 2013. We had to depend on his wisdom and political sagacity in putting together parties of different orientations into one cohesive family that we are today.

“We celebrate his uncommon wisdom, which was not appreciated by some, at the time he was Governor in placing this state on a firm foundation administratively.”

APC said Akande would be treasured for his statesmanship which cuts across party lines and has brought him to the forefront of national leadership.

“Papa turns 79 today, we wish him many more glorious years of selfless service to Osun and the country in general.” the release added.

Meanwhile, the immediate past Honourable Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning in the State of Osun, Dr. Adewale Bolorunduro, has also felicitated with founding Interim Chairman of the APC, on his Birthday.

In a congratulatory message to mark the birthday of the elder statesman released by his Media Office in Ilesa, Dr. Bolorunduro extolled Chief Akande for his wisdom, sacrifices, forthrightness, patriotism and astute leadership acumen; right from his days of service in the Old Oyo State.

Dr. Bolorunduro described the tenure of Chief Adebisi Akande as Governor of Osun between 1999 and 2003 as one which was “characterized by selfless service and monumental development to mankind leading to a solid foundation for the progressive governance of the Rauf Aregbesola – led Administration.”

“Chief Adebisi Akande, Baba Omo Kekeke himself, has continued to be a bridge between the present and the past with his enormous wealth of experience in public service as a true democrat which has been of immense benefit to many of us who are his political children”, the Former Commissioner added.

He prayed that the Almighty God grant “Chief Akande longer life, more strength, increased wisdom and vitality as his experience is still direly needed especially as Nigeria and the State of Osun moves into another critical electioneering period.’’
