Osun ADP Candidate Attacked Over Comments

By Kehinde Ayantunji

The campaign team of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Osun, Gboyega Oyetola Campaign Organisation has described the Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti as one full of contradictions who cannot be entrusted with governance.

It noted that Adeoti has succeeded in contradicting himself by acknowledging success already recorded by the state government, but turned round empty on what specifically he would do differently if he ever accidentally seizes power.

The organisation was reacting to the comments made by Adeoti during a radio programme in Osogbo, the state capital on Tuesday.

Adeoti, the immediate past Secretary to the State Government defected from the APC to ADP after withdrawing from the primary election of his former party, and emerged the candidate of his new party unopposed.

However, in a statement by the Director-General of the campaign organisation, Honourable Ajibola Famurewa, it said, having acknowledged success already recorded by the government in the course of the radio program, the claim that he is popular within the party came to naught by running away from direct primary which would have allowed all members to make a free choice without being represented.

“The Organisation strongly wishes to contend that the process of picking the flagbearer of the APC is well spelt out in the party’s constitution, thus it has become incredible that the self acclaimed man-to beat abandoned the ship at deep sea.

“One would have imagined the state of the mind of Alhaji Adeoti while the contest for the party’s ticket was on so much that he had to go on a radio station to discredit and malign credible party leaders including Dr. Peter Babalola, Dr. Ismail Saka-Layoonu, a senior silk, Mr Gboyega Alabi and Rt Honourable Najeem Salaam as being complacent and conspirators against their individual selves in the race to win the ticket.

“Interestingly, Alhaji Adeoti in his being clever by half acknowledged the exploit of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola with whom he worked to create the good legacies for more than seven years, and failed to acknowledge dedicated thirty kilometers of township roads, modern school infrastructure, security, functional health and ambulance services latched on the contentious Iwo-Osogbo road which was unattended to by the defunct PDP Federal Government but enjoyed intervention of Aregbesola government.

“Unfortunately, during the tenure of another candidate from the West Senatorial District, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade had an opportunity to work on the road but diverted the repair to his home town, Ogbaagba as against the main road that could have eased the problems of transportation of the mass majority of the people.

“Not surprised though by the public exhibition of incompetence by Adeoti against himself, he was not forthcoming about how he deliberately lobbied all figures both in Lagos and Osun including retired military generals to be appointed the SSG even when the party chairmanship could have been more lucrative and rewarding for him”, the group restated.
