Omisore’s Claims Are Baseless- Osun Government
  • PublishedApril 4, 2017

The people of Osun has been advised to disregard the latest ranting of Senator Iyiola Omisore on the politics of Osun and the performance of APC government under the leadership of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

The call was made by the Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi in a press release today in Osogbo

The party was reacting to claims made by Omisore in a series of interviews published over the weekend that he won the 2014 governorship election in the state.

Omisore had claimed in the interviews that he produced evidence on You Tube to show how the 2014 election was ‘manipulated’ to favour Ogbeni Aregbesola.

But the APC described Omisore’s claim as ‘irresponsible, false and unbecoming of a politician of his status and experience’.

The APC said it could appear that Omisore’s dream of becoming a governor has turned dilusional.

According to the APC,  Omisore’s political career since 1999 till date has been fraught with disgraceful failure and comprehensive defeat in the hands of younger politicians like Sen. Babatunde Omowurare and Aregbesola.

Omoworare disgraced Omisore from the Senate in 2011 while Ogbeni Aregbesola roundly defeated him in 2014 in spite of the massive deployment of Federal Government resources to help Omisore win but he lost.

The APC also called the attention of Osun people to the political tragedy Omisore suffered during his impeachment as deputy governor under Papa Bisi Akande.

‘A politician of Omisore’s political pedigree of disloyalty, falsehood and incredible political association with violence cannot be trusted to provide the state of Osun with progressive leadership

‘No matter how much he dreams or how craftly he put a new spin to an old lie, Omisore remains quintessentially a bad material for the governorship of the state of Osun’, the APC said.

The APC insisted that Omisore cannot claim that 2014 election was manipulated because everybody saw the violence which the PDP government in Abuja brought to Osun to intimidate citizens of the state to vote PDP.

But the exercise failed in a way that must have affected Omisore psychologically.

In that frame of mind the APC argued, since that defeat up till now, ‘Omisore is not in a position to understand how all the lies he produced at the tribunal, the court of appeal and the Supreme Court failed to impress the learned judges.

‘Osun people have become immuned to the lies of PDP whether of Makarfi or Sheriff faction. And that has completely destroyed Omisore’s credibility in the state’.
