The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olalekan Balogun, on Friday, reiterated his commitment to the unity of Yoruba people.
Oba Balogun stated this while hosting the executive members of the Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG), led by its chairman, Mr Wale Oshun, at his Alarere residence in Ibadan.
The traditional ruler stressed that the unity of the race must not be compromised for any reason.
He declared that he was ready to interface with other traditional rulers in Yorubaland on any issue that would promote the interest of Yorubas.
Oba Balogun hailed the activities of the group which he described as patriotic and altruistic, pledging his support for it.
He also pledged support for other similar groups working towards the protection of the interest of Yorubas and the emancipation of the people, as their guiding philosophy.
He enjoined ARG to ensure that all divisive tendencies among the various groups within Yorubaland were checked.
In his address, the group chairman, Oshun, said it was concerned about the position of Yorubaland in the political calculation of the country.
He appealed to Oba Balogun, as a prominent traditional ruler who came to the throne from a very rich and brilliant background, to come to the centre of the activities of the ARG.
