Ogunsua Market has Rejuvenated Our Local Economy – Osun Parliamentarian, Hon. Oyewale Oyelakin

The Deputy Speaker of Ife East Central Local Council Development Area of Modakeke in the State of Osun, Hon. Oyewale Oyelakin has said the new 8-days Ogunsua Market of the ancient town established by their administration has rejuvenated their local economy and reduced crime rates among many other positive impacts the new market brought to the town within the short period of the establishment.

The Osun local government parliamentarian disclosed this recently to newsmen in Modakeke area of the state while bearing his mind on his one year tenure in office as the deputy speaker of the LCDA.

Hon. Oyewale who admitted that there were challenges right from the conception of the idea of the market to the point of implementation but were tackled head-on with the unity of purpose of his colleagues, community stakeholders like market women and the purposeful leadership of the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Dixon Amola, who believes in changing the fate of the local government for good.

The two terms spokesman of the All Progressives Congress in the LCDA acknowledged the support and motivation of one of the respected community leaders in the town who did the unimaginable to assist the council and ensured that the idea of the market became a reality.

Hon. Oyewale said Ogunsua Market has become a meeting point for people from Ondo, Osun, Oyo, and Lagos states while travelers nationwide passing through the route on market days uses the opportunity to buy their needs.

He said, the market has in no small measure help to better the lots of their people from an ordinary pure water seller to Okada riders, traders of all kinds, farmers who leverage on the opportunity to sell their farm products among other stakeholders.

Most importantly, he said, his recent findings from police and magistrates court show that crime rate has drastically reduced within the town and their women are no longer defaulting loans from microfinance outlets, such as Lapo, Grummy, G&G ,Owolowo cooperative, Alajeseku, etc

Speaking specifically on his experience over a year in office, Oyewale in his words, said,
“One year ago, I was elected alongside nine others to fill the ten wards councillorship slot of Ife East Central Local Development Council, Modakeke and while determining the leadership of the parliamentary arm, I was privileged among equals to occupy the position of the Deputy Speaker courtesy of the resolve and blessings of our leaders and elders council”

“Based on my belief that political power is a clarion call to serve the people dearly and an avenue to impact positively on the citizenry and the society at large, I have worked within the year under review to be very dutiful to my constitutional duties and also impact positively in all areas of human endeavour ranging from security of lives and property, sustained health care delivery, grading of roads, education, community relations, and increase in internally generated revenue for the council among others”

“Of most important is our administration effort to rejuvenate our local economy which we did through the birth of 8-days periodic market tagged “Ogunsua Market”. This market despite the challenges we had at every stage before it came to limelight, it has been a meeting point for traders from Ondo, Osun, Oyo, and Lagos states while travelers nationwide passing through the route on market days uses the opportunity to buy their needs”
