The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Department of State Security Service (DSS) said they have resolved the crisis between the two parties over the brutalization of two members of the NUJ, Timothy Agbor of The Point Newspaper and Toba Ajisafe of Osun Defender Newspaper.

A statement by the state Chairman of NUJ, Abiodun Olalere said, a parley was held at the instance of the state council, where “areas of disagreement  between both parties were critical examined and resolved”.

The DSS representatives reportedly apologised for the brutalization of the journalists.

The statement read further: “Suggestions were offered and accepted for a mutual working relationship. “The two parties promised to respect one another in the discharged of their duties for the overall development of the society”, the statement read.

The two journalists were on Monday molested and brutalised by the operatives of the DSS, while covering a solidarity procession in support of Local Government Autonomy at the Osun State House of Assembly.
