The Palace of Ooni of Ife in Osun State says  the town is safe for indigenes and non-indigenes contrary to claims that there is tension in the ancient city over the death of a Yoruba man.

It said on Friday that the incident that led to the death of a Yoruba man happened in a village in Osu, Atakumosa West Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by the Director of Media and Public Affairs in the Ooni’s Palace, Moses Olafare, said some people on a peaceful march to the palace, reported the killing of a Yoruba man to Ooni on Friday morning.

Olafare said the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, after receiving the report of the incident, informed security operatives on further action.

Insisting that there was no clash involving Hausa and Yoruba residents in the town, the statement urged residents to continue to cohabit in peace and report suspicious movements to the appropriate quarters.
