A 45 year-old man, Hammed Abiodun, was on Monday remanded in Ilesa prison custody by an Osogbo Magistrate Court over alleged assault.

Abiodun is facing a one-count charge bothering on assault preferred against him.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 13, 2018 along Ola-Egbon street, Dada Estate, Osogbo.

Fagboyinbo said the accused assaulted one Olagunju Temitayo, his ex- wife before he was arrested at his place of work, where he is working as a night guard.

He said the offence committed contravened section 355 of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge leveled against him.

Counsel to the accused, Mrs Abosede Dada, applied for the bail of his client and prayed that the bail should be granted in the most liberal terms.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Oloyade overruled the bail application by the defence counsel and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.

The Magistrate then adjourned the matter to February 2.
