General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Muhammad Sanusi has urged Nigerians to have faith in the Falconets in the on going FIFA Under-20 women’s World Cup, stressing that the girls can only get better and go far in the tournament after holding China in their final group game on Monday to advance to the quarter-finals.
“After the 1-1 draw against China that ensured that the Falconets reached the quarter-finals, I believe this will boost them and raise the confidence in going further in the championship. The girls and their officials will continue to work hard to better their previous record of losing in the final twice,” Sanusi stated.
“All we are asking for is for Nigerians to continue to support the team with prayers for the team to excel in the FIFA under-20 women World Cup holding in France. I am happy with the way the team came from the dead to snatch a late equaliser and book their place in the quarter-finals.”
He said the NFF board led by Amaju Pinnick will give the team all necessary support to achieve their set goal of winning the cup adding that they will meet all their financial obligations to the Falconets
In a similar development, former national women senior team coach, Edwin Okon congratulated the girls even as he urged them to go all out to win the trophy for Nigeria. Okon who also led the Falconets to reach the final in 2010 said the team must work on goals scoring to progress in the competition.
