NBTE Approves OSPOLY As Open, Distance Flexible E-Learning (ODFEL) Centre

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved Osun State Polutechnic Iree as one of the accredited Institutions for Open and Distance Flexible E-Learning centers in Nigeria, for the award of National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. M. A. Kazaure, to convey the approval to the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Woye Olaniran.

Dr. Kazaure, while congratulating the Institution on the approval stated that the Polytechnic is allowed to run all accredited programmes in the Institution for the award of the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes.

He charged the Institution to develop an interactive online E-Learning platform for the ODFEL with tools and resources to support and enhance education delivery and management that would enable the students to participate actively in the programme at all time of the day.

The Executive Secretary stressed that the approval of OSPOLY as a center is as a result of the Institution’s involvement in the Flexible and Blended Skills Development (FSD), facilitated by Commonwealth of Learning ((Col) and its participation in the ODFEL trainings, seminars and workshops .

While reacting to the appointment of the Institution as an ODFEL center, the Rector of the Institution, Dr Woye Olaniran, who expressed gratitude for the feat recorded in the Polytechnic, assured that his management would ensure that all the guidelines set for operations of the programme are followed.

He enthused that the Polytechnic is blessed with the state of the art equipment and erudite personnel to operate the programme effectively. He commended the NBTE for the initiatives and its efforts to strengthen Vocational and Technical Education in Nigeria.

Only twenty Seven Polytechnics were approved for the programme in Nigeria and only seven in the South West among which is OSPOLY Iree.
