The Labour Party governorship candidate in Ondo State. Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, have promised to implement programmes that would lead to more employment opportunities for the people of the state if elected as governor.
Dr. Mimiko gave this promise at Araromi Oba, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state during his campaign tour of the areas.
According to him, the resources available in the state, if well tapped and utilised were enough to generate employment to the people of the state and also increase its internally generated revenue. He also said apart from direct efforts at eradicating poverty among the people with direct employments, steps would be taken by the LP government to improve the standard of living of the people of the state.
The former Minister of Housing and Urban Development said towards eradicating poverty and hunger among people, his administration would provide enough soft loans at minimum interest rates to market women and medium scale industrialists to assist them in becoming self sufficient.
Mimiko also said poverty would be eradicated through strategies that would be mapped out with the aim of resuscitating all the moribund industries owned by the state within the first year in office.
