Man In Court Over Electoral Offence

Osun state police command has arraigned a 24 year-old man, Adeagbo Wasiu before an Osogbo magistrate court for allegedlly conducting himself in a disorderly manner and attempt to commit  bribery during the September 22 governorship election in the state.

The charge sheet read in the court revealed that the accused person and others at large were allegedly of unlawful possession of voters cards and disorderly conduct.

The charge sheet stated  further that the accused person received and procured one voters card of other person for use at Osun Gubernatorial election.

The offence committed, the charge sheet revealed  is contrary to and punishable under section 128 of the Electoral Act, 2010.

According to the charge sheet the suspect committed the offence at Kolabalogun area, Osogbo on  September 22, 2018

However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the five count charges preferred against him.

The defence counsel, prayed the court to grant the accused person bail in the most affordable and liberal terms and assured the court that he will provide a reliable surety if granted bail.

Presiding magistrate, Mr. Olusegun Ayilara admitted the suspect to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety, the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court, swear to an affidavit of means.

He later adjourned the case to December 24, 2018 for hearing.
