Man In Court Over Attempted Murder

The Osun State Police Command has arraigned one Oladele James before a magistrate court in Osogbo over alleged attempted murder and assault occasioning harm.

The accused is facing a nine-count charge bothering on breach of peace, assault occasioning harm and attempted murder.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Adegoke, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on April 14th, 2018, at about 7pm at the back of Capital Hotel area in Osogbo.

According to the charge sheet, the suspect goes around in public armed with dangerous weapons such as matches, iron rod, planks, plastic chair etc. without lawful reasons and caused terror to persons attending the marriage ceremony of Mr.&Mrs. Taofeek Adesina.

Furthermore, the charge sheet added that the suspect assaulted one Bukola Olaniyi and inflicted grievous bodily injuries on his head and hand with cutlass.

Inspector Adegoke said the offence contravened sections 516 of the criminal code, Cap 34, Vol. II laws of Osun State Nigeria 2003.

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the count charge against him.

The defence counsel, Mr. J. Jones, prayed the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms.

Magistrate M.A. Awodele granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties.

Awodele said the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court, adding that one of the sureties must be level 14 in the state civil service.
