Man Arraigned For N24m Fraud

One Agboola Femi, 23 is currently facing trial before an Osogbo Magistrate court in Osogbo for obtaining a sum of N24 million under false pretence from one Ola Alabi.

The accused person was arraigned on a four-count charge of conspiracy, fraud, stealing and impersonation.

According to the charge sheet, Agboola and others now at large between September 2015 and 13th of August 2017 in Osogbo, conspired to commit felony to wit stealing, obtained money under false pretence and impersonated one Sandra Wilson, thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the criminal code Cap 34 Vol II Law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

It was disclosed that the accused persons and other, under false pretence and with intention to defraud, obtained a sum of N24 million from Alabi after he presented himself to be a lady in love with him, a pretence which he knew was false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 418 and punishable under Section 419 of the Penal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The charge also said the accused person stole the sum of N24 million, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 383 (i) and punishable under Section 390(a) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol ll Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The counsel of the accused person, Bola Abimbola Ige pleaded for the bail of the accused person after he pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.

The magistrate, Fatimo Sodamade granted the accused person bail in a sum of N2 million, with two sureties in a like sum.

She then adjourned the matter till September 28, 2017 for hearing.
