As the country still worry about the possible fate of about 87 girls which the extreme Islamist sect captured last week, a fresh report just filed in. According to Bauchi police, suspected gunmen set ablaze some houses in the staff quarters of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Yana, killing a five-year old girl on Sunday.
“Unknown gunmen attacked the staff quarters of GGSS Yana, Shira Local Government Area of the state, around 2.30 a.m. on Sunday.
“They set the school bus ablaze; and in the process, a five-year-old girl was killed in the fire while they destroyed the vault of a bank,’’ he said.
DSP Haruna Mohammed, the police spokesperson in the state, said on Sunday in Bauchi that the gunmen also burnt a telecommunication mast in the town and stole a private car belonging to the principal of the school.
A joined team of security forces are on the trail of the attackers to ascertain the degree of the damage, Mohammed said.
