The Executive Secretary, Isokan South Local Council Development Area, Ikoyi, State of Osun. Hon. Oyelami Wasiu has commended the founding fathers of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for their foresight, saying the scheme has ensured unity and expanded knowledge of educated young men and women from different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Hon. Oyelami made this assertion at the inauguration/welcome ceremony for the pioneer NYSC members posted to his council, held at Iyo Hall, Ikoyi-Osun.

He reiterated that due to the roles the scheme played in the service of the Corp members, any financial commitment on their welfare would not be considered a waste, but sensible and profitable investment which would benefit the future of the young ones and the country at large.

He then charged the Corp members to form NYSC Community Development Groups towards provision of Holiday/Evening coaching classes for younger ones, provision of legal aids and services to the people, provision of adequate information and education on prevention, management and control of HIV / AlDS, and among others, as well as introduction of sporting activities on competitive level to schools.

The Executive Secretary also charged them not to relent in both their primary and secondary assignment and be role models to their host communities.

He cautioned the corp members to avoid unnecessary travelling and trespassing with a view to guaranteeing their security, just as he urged the host communities to cooperate fully with the NYSC member posted to the LCDA.

Wishing them successful services to their fatherland, the council boss advised the corps members not to look for a white-collar job after service, but to create employment opportunities for people.

The council manager, Alhaji Sheu Ajibade also encouraged the corps members to engage in agriculture and assured that the council would assist any one of them who is interested in farming morally and financially.
