On International women, various women groups blocked the entrance of the National Assembly to protest alleged inequality against women.
It was gathered that the women blocked off the Federal Secretariat gate of the Parliament, protested the rejection of gender bills during the constitutional amendment last week.
They were not allowed access into the National Assembly again by security agents during the protest that coincides with the International Women’s Day.
The women, led by Dr Abiola Afolabi, insisted they would not leave until they meet the leadership of the National Assembly and get assurances something urgent would be to address the situation.
Some of them hanged chains on their necks to symbolise how women have been caged in the polity.
At the time of filing this report the gates to the National Assembly were still blocked.
