The Coroner Inquest instituted by the Government of Osun State to unravel circumstances surrounding sudden death of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke has cleared air on speculation that he died as a result of poison.

In this video, the coroner ruled out poison as the cause of Adeleke’s death, saying there were no traces of poison in the system of the deceased according to the autopsy and toxicologist’s reports which were tendered before him.

Testimonies were taken from witnesses, among which are CMD of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Prof. Akeem Lasisi; LAUTECH Chief Pathologist, Dr. Taiwo Solaja; Nurse who injected the late Senator, Mr. Alfred Aderibigbe; SP Moses Eleta, Head, Homicide Unit, Osun Police Command

In the testimony of Mr Aderibigbe, the nurse who administered drug on the late senator revealed that Aderibigbe administered overdose of diazepam 40mg, hydrocortisone 200mg, analgin 1000mg, gentamicine 1500mg, and pentasozine to the deceased intravenously coupled with excessive alcohol which caused his death.

The deceased had patronised the said Aderibigbe for about 20 years and had taken treatment from him without doctor’s prescription.

In his verdict, Coroner Olusegun Ayilara said evidence before the inquest shows that the speculation of the poisoning is baseless. He revealed that the curse of late Adeleke’s death is aspiration associated with multiple drugs overdose and could not able to trace the link of poisoning by anybody. The autopsy and toxicologist’s reports have confirmed that there were no traces of poison and heavy metal in his (deceased’s) blood; therefore, it is my prime opinion that he was not poisoned.
