Group Warns Diekola Against Attacking Tinubu, Aregbesola

A socio-political group, ‘I Stand With Tinubu’ has cautioned a leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Osun State, Alhaji Fatai Diekola against disparaging Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The group said it has been observing Diekola’s political activities in the recent past and could say that the APC chieftain was only interested in smearing Aregbesola and Tinubu’s image to gain the heart of people who want to attack the governor over the 2018 governorship ticket of the party.

According to the group in a press statement signed by its Coordinator and Secretary, Messrs Muraina Lawal and Segun Ogundele respectively berated Diekola for referring to Aregbesola as a district officer sent to oversee the affairs of the state by his boss.

The group claimed that though Diekola did not mention Tinubu in his ‘provocative statement, but he was indirectly attacking Aregbesola and Tinubu at the same time by referring to the governor as a district officer.

Accusing the APC chieftain of embarking on his usual way of creating confusion in the party and making false accusation against notable members of the APC to curry favour from unsuspecting people, the group said Diekola’s attempt to blackmail Aregbesola has failed.

The statement reads: “We are not unaware of the antics and political gimmicks of Alhaji Diekola, we know him to be making false accusation against people to curry favour from people who do not know his character. We know how he blackmails people to collect money from them.

“We would like to remind Alhaji Diekola that he is neither a threat to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, nor the APC in Osun State. We would also like to remind him that he is Aregbesola’s creation because he was a mere member of the party before the governor elevated him.

‘If Alhaji Diekola has decided to join the conspiracies against Aregbesola and Asiwaju Tinubu, he will be disgraced and cut to his political size in Osun. We would tell him that Aregbesola, who is Tinubu’s boy made him who he is today. We will tell him that his political title ‘Jagun’ is an illusion.”
