A furniture maker-turned commercial motorcyclist, popularly called okada, David Oloye, ( 22) of No37 Danjuma Sreet, Akure has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate Court, Oke-Eda for manslaughter.
According to the charge sheet with number MAK/243/MT/2009, the accused was said to have caused the death of a man called Kola Oni in a fatal accident
The accused, who is an indigene of Ijebu-Jesha in Osun State, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle with registration number ONDO 320 NND along Ilesha-Akure highway, when he had a head-on collision with the deceased on March 27, 2009 at about 6.00 pm.
According to the Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Tanimowo Emmanuel, the one count charge committed by the accused was punishable under section 18(1) of the road traffic law cap II,Vol II, law of Ondo State of Nigeria 1978.
After the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor then informed the court that he had intended to call three witnesses to prosecute the case.
Meanwhile the presiding Chief Magistrate, A. Enikuomehin had admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties. He then adjourned the case to April 27, 2009.
