In recent times, Nigerians have suffered greatly from Xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Yesterday Thursday 6th of April, 2017, an auto mechanic was killed with 5 others injured in a mob attack at in Polokwane, Limpopo Province of South Africa. The attack which was carried out in broad daylight by a mob, was said to be connected to alleged involvement of the victims in drugs deals.

The Nigerian Acting High Commissioner to South Africa Martin’s Cobhams, who had since registered Nigeria’s grievances with the South African foreign affairs ministry over the attacks on her citizens, insisted that nobody has a right to take the law into his hands.

Within the last two years, about 116 Nigerians have lost their lives in South Africa through extra-judicial means. The federal government has called the South African Government to take firm measures that will protect Nigerian citizens and other Africans in the country. The situation at hand has left many people befuddled as no one ever expected that a country that has fought so hard to overcome apartheid will turn her back on other Africans
