IN reaction to the recent flood which sacked some parts of Ipetu- Ijesa Town in Oriade Local Government Council Area of Osun State, the Osun State government and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have been called upon to quickly intervene so as to help the people affected.
This call was made by the Chairman Caretaker Committee of the council, Honourable Taiwo Fatiregun, recently, during a chat with OSUN DEFENDER COMMUNITY NEWS. Honourable Fatiregun disclosed that majority of the people affected were farmers and their crops. According to the council boss, “this flood left in its aftermath devastation, which will surely affect the income of many of the farmers”. Fatiregun, who disclosed that as at the time of the flood incident, he was away to Abuja for a crucial official assignment, statedthat he immediately gave instructions that news of the flood should be relayed to all the media houses as soon as he got informed.
The caretaker boss also made it known that he had instructed the people not to let the positive lessons learnt during the 90-days environmental sanitation exercise to die, adding that the residents of the council area should always be Mindful of water-drainage and should make every effort to clear them so as to avoid a repeat of another flood. Assembly; Honourable M.B.O. Ibrahim has assured the residents of Ipetu-Ijesa of the government’s readiness to make relief materials available to the affected people.
